Godwin
Family Vineyards
The Godwin Family Vineyards’ unique terroir and Bordeaux-like climate inspired the Godwins to focus solely on creating a groundbreaking Bordeaux style wine from their prized Merlot grapes in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. In 1980 Dick Godwin and his wife Rickie bought the 144-acre ranch that became the Moss Oak Vineyard. The cool ocean breezes that drift in from the Sonoma Coast allow for a longer hang-time for the ripening fruit, resulting in grapes with more varietal intensity and flavor. Today, winemaker Kerry Damskey consults with proprietor and son of Dick and Rickie Kent Godwin to create superior wines, which are a unique statement from the vineyard.
